COVID-19 Vaulter Protocol (5/17/2020)

 

All vaulters are expected to follow the protocols below at all times. These protocols take effect immediately and will continue until the WV board issues an update. If protocols are not being followed, the coach(es)/lunger(s) will prompt vaulters to follow the protocol.  For the safety of the staff and all the vaulters and their families, if protocols are ignored or refused by a vaulter or their family, we will not allow that vaulter/family to participate in practices.

 

Vaulters should bring the following items to every practice:

-clean, well-fitted mask/face covering (required)

-filled water bottle (optional)

-yoga mat or ground covering (optional)

-vaulting shoes (required)

-hand sanitizer (minimum 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol content) (optional)

 

Protocol for Vaulters entering Woodside Vaulters Facility:

  • Vaulter and/or parent will give a thumbs up (no symptoms) or thumbs down (vaulter has had exposure or symptoms) to the coach for health screening questions from the car as they approach the arena.

  • Vaulter should wear a clean, well fitted facemask/face covering prior to exiting their car and should keep it on at all times while at WV facility (except when mounted on the horse). When and how to wear medical masks to protect against the new coronavirus?

  • Parents should allow their child to exit the car near the arena behind the barn.  Parents should remain in their car for the duration of their child’s practice.

  • Vaulter should proceed immediately to the sink to wash their hands for 20 seconds with soap and water.  Hand-washing Steps Using the WHO Technique

  • Vaulter should then proceed to check-in area to wait for their coach to check them in and assign their practice station. 

 

Protocol for Vaulters while at WV:

  • Use hand sanitizer (bring your own) during every transition between stations during practice (eg. between moving from mat to horse), after coughing/sneezing. Hand Rubbing Steps Using the WHO Technique

  • Stay in area designated to you by the coach. Do not enter another vaulter’s practice area.

  • Use only equipment you have brought with you. Your equipment should stay with you as you move through the WV facility.

  • Maintain social distancing with other vaulters, coaches, and lungers. Stay 6 feet from another person.

  • Follow longueurs’ directions on when and how to approach and mount the horse

  • If you need to use the restroom during practice, you must wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water BEFORE leaving the WV facility and BEFORE re-entering.

 

Protocol for Vaulters to leave WV Facility:

  • At the end of practice, vaulter should use hand sanitizer and take their personal belongings to designated check out location.

  • Check out with coach.

  • Vaulter should then proceed to the sink to wash their hands with soap for 20 seconds.

  • Vaulter should proceed directly to their parent’s car.  Parents should wait in their car for their child.

  • Should parents need to contact their child during practice, they should text or call the coach.
